FAQ

Just like all graduates, you will need to secure a job in your career field.

We've got a few ideas.

  • "I've been thinking about where to look for a job after college. I've been praying about how I can use my career to help introduce people to Jesus."
  • "My (church/college ministry) has done several trips to (city name), and I've worked with (church plant name) on those trips. I'm considering taking part in GenSend after college, an initiative that asks graduating seniors to find jobs in places where churches are being started to help share Christ and make disciples in new communities."
  • "You have invested in me during these college years, and I want to now invest in others by going to a city where I can not only start my career but also help a new church share Christ with people who do not know Him."

Absolutely! You'll have the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways. In fact, because the church we connect you with will be a church plant, you will likely have more opportunities there than you do in the church you are a part of now.

Church plants start small and grow as their members build relationships with people at work and in their communities. Your most important role will be building relationships with people in your city to help engage them with your church plant family.

Choosing where to go is not as important as making the decision to do GenSend after college. Some people will choose a location because their church or college ministry has a partnership with a church or a group of churches in a city. Others will choose a location because that's where they could find a job or because it's a place they've always wanted to live. Some may choose a location because that's where their friends are going or because it's close to family.

One of these factors, or maybe a combination of other factors, can play a part in your decision. What's most important is that you go somewhere where you can leverage your influence and invest in a church plant to bring the hope of the gospel to people who don't yet know Jesus.

GenSend after college is designed for those who have finished their senior year and are making the transition from student life to being a part of the workforce. This shift is important because GenSend after college participants need to have jobs to support themselves and build relationships in workplaces.

GenSend after college is open-ended. After 24 months, you can stay in your new city, return to your hometown or even go to a new place to help start another church. Some people will take part in GenSend after college and then head home after their commitment. Others help start a new church, fall in love with the city and decide to stay. Regardless of where you land after the commitment, the "win" is seeing your growth through the blessings and challenges of the GenSend after college journey. The experiences gained during GenSend after college are invaluable ones that you will carry for the rest of your life.

You will not get paid as part of GenSend after college North America.

Yes, but it will be a challenge, and you will still need to cover your own expenses. Doing additional education, working a full-time job, connecting with coworkers in the community and helping with a church plant will be difficult. We don't want to discourage you from pursuing a degree, but we want you to count the costs before making the commitment.
