Second Summer is for returning GenSenders who want to keep growing after their first summer and take more ownership in life on mission. It is for students who are ready to lead, serve, be stretched, and continue exploring how God may use their lives through church planting.
The Two Tracks
Leader Track
Return for a second summer to help lead a GenSend cohort, grow as a leader, and invest in the future of GenSend.
This track is for students who want to help shape the GenSend experience by recruiting future students, giving feedback on the program, and returning in the summer to help lead a cohort.
- Who: Students who have completed GenSend Summer and are recommended by a GenSend Mobilizer and Coach
- Interest Form: Submit the Second Summer Leader Interest Form by September 30
- Formal Application: Invited students will complete the GenSend Summer application when it opens in the fall
- Prep: Monthly virtual cohort gatherings from October through April
- Duration: Recruit throughout the school year and return in the summer to help lead a GenSend cohort
- Cost: Receive a discounted GenSend rate
Marketplace Internship Track
Return for a second summer through an internship while learning how to live and share your faith in real work settings.
This track is for returning GenSenders who will spend the summer in an internship, whether paid or unpaid, while joining a national virtual cohort and staying connected to GenSend during the summer.
- Who: Returning GenSenders who are participating in a summer internship
- Interest Form: Submit the Marketplace Internship Interest Form by September 30
- Formal Application: Invited students will complete the GenSend Summer application when it opens in the fall
- Prep: Pre-summer training
- Duration: 4, 6, or 8-week opportunities
- Cost: $800 (4-week), $1,200 (6-week), or $1,600 (8-week)
Where Second Summer Can Lead
Second Summer helps returning GenSenders grow in leadership, workplace mission, and clarity about their next step. For many students, it becomes an important next step as they explore how God may use their life after college through work, ministry, and church planting.
Yes. Second Summer is for returning GenSenders who have completed at least one summer with GenSend.
No. Completing the Leader Track Interest Form lets us know you want to be considered, but leadership roles are not guaranteed. Final decisions are based on overall fit, input from your previous Mobilizer and Coach, city needs, and available openings.
The Leader Track is for returning GenSenders who want to help lead a cohort, recruit future students, and invest in the development of GenSend. The Marketplace Internship Track is for returning GenSenders who will spend the summer in an internship while learning to live and share their faith in real work settings through a virtual cohort and connection to a GenSend team.
Students who complete an interest form can expect to hear from us in October about whether they’ve been selected to move forward in the process.
Students in the Marketplace Internship Track are responsible for securing their own internship. GenSend provides missional training, virtual cohort support, and connection to a GenSend cohort during the summer.
